Pushkar, India - Restaurants and Accomodation

A few of my favourite spots in Pushkar, India.

Mouth-watering Lemon Potatoes

Vegetable Biryani

The view from The Laughing Buddha Cafe

Pushkar.

The magical place where the lotus flower fell, released by a swan sent by the Hindu gods
and quite frankly, my favourite little place in Rajasthan.

Humble and friendly, this pilgrim town clutches onto its' holy roots as hotels and restaurants pile on top of one another vying for a coveted rooftop view of the Lake.

Pushkar is peaceful... for the most part.

While distant gongs chime and an accord of prayer, chants and chimes fill the air, it's a far cry from the familiar cacophony of car horns, shouting and throat hacks commonly associated with an Indian soundtrack.

It's a perfect spot to relax, take in the beautiful views, devour delicious food and watch a bit of Indian Premier League cricket with the locals. Just remember - Don't swim in the lake!

It is definitely a place you end up staying longer than anticipated and I can't wait to return!

Restaurants:

The Laughing Buddha Cafe - our favourite little coffee spot in Pushkar. Take your shoes off at the top of the stairs and grab a table on the balcony to watch life go by on the bustling main street. Yummy vegetarian mains and delicious desserts.

The Sunset Cafe - as the name suggests, a great spot to grab a lemon soda and watch the sun set behind the rolling hills. Get in early though as there aren't too many tables out the front.

Out of the Blue - the BEST Tibetan momos in Pushkar! Try the spinach and cheese version, fried.

Accomodation:

Hotel Hill View , - approx 300-600 rupees p/n - One of three hotels owned by brothers that share a clean, decent-sized pool. The sibling owners are lovely and it is a clean, pleasant place to stay even though it isn't right on the main strip.
