A few snaps of the colourful market on Las Ramblas, Barcelona.
La Boqueria Bites, Barcelona
Barcelona is up there on the list of my favourite European cities, culinary wise.
If you have ever visited this vibrant and vivacious city, you most likely would have walked down the central boulevard Las Ramblas and maybe even wandered into Mercado de La Boqueria.
This large public market stocks some of Catalonia's freshest local ingredients and is an excellent place to explore if you, like me, are an avid food lover.
Stalls selling fresh juices for €1.50, cups of chopped fruit for €3, seafood, meats, sweets and baked goods make even the fullest of stomachs grumble.
While you're there, make sure you try some of Spain's famous cured ham - Jamón serrano and jamón ibérico are popular varieties. These rich, salty bits of goodness can be expensive depending upon curing time and breed rarity, however you can pick up a little paper cone of off-cuts for around €5.
Just remember that stalls towards the front of the market are more expensive than those at the rear so take your time to meander through the maze and save your cents for later.
If for some reason you're feeling ill from a bad batch of Las Ramblas Paella (don't do it! - there are so many more delicious restaurants away from the main strip!), the market still provides a place to take some colourful travel snaps, definitely worthy for your Instagram.
Hope you enjoy mine!
